RIP Goldie & Cowboy ❤
My parents and I used to have 6 love birds. For Valentine's Day four or five years ago, my dad bought my mom 2 lovebirds since she cannot work and stays home during the day. A few years after that, they mated and we were left with 4 babies and the 2 parents. My mom wanted to keep them all so we separated the parents (because 6 birds is enough) and raised the babies. We ended up with two boys and two girls. Now they all have weird names! The parents are called Cowboy (the dad) and Ti-Bird (the mom). The two baby girls are called Ping-Ping and Goldie. Ping-Ping was named after the smallest man alive since she was the smallest of the bunch, and Goldie was the biggest and started to get her feathers before everyone else. She was yellow and beautiful. The little boys are called Rizzo and Chumlie. Rizzo was named after one of the Muppets. We had trouble with him when he was a baby since he would just not eat by himself, and he was always escaping from his box. Now I never watched the Muppets but I guess his character was similar. And believe or not, Chumlie is names after Chumlie from Pawn Stars... Just cuz!
Anyway a few years back, Cowboy, the dad had some sort of injury to his shoulder. We took him to the vet but it wasn't really anything too serious. However, he kept picking at it and ended up plucking out most of his feather. We called him our little homeless bird❤. Since we got the parents at the pet shop, Cowboy was not trusting like the babies and would not come with us. Sometimes my dad would catch him and he and my mom would nurse his injury, since it never really healed. Furthermore, about a month ago, we noticed that one of the girls, Goldie, had plucked out all her feathers around her neck. They would start to grow, and she would pluck then right back out. We brought her to the vet but they're not the brightest to say the least.
So last night, my friend and I were out to the movies and my dad texted me saying I should call. When I did, he told me that he has some bad news and that Goldie had passed. He said it was fast and they were holding her when she went. She wasn't alone. I was afraid that it might have been something that could have affected the others and got all scared and panicky. I didn't sleep very well last night and when I did, I had very weird dreams. This morning, my mom woke me up at like 7:30 this morning to tell me that Cowboy too had passed. Experts think it probably is a huge coincidence, but I'd like to think that he didn't want his little Goldie to be alone❤.
