Vision Catalogue VS Goodreads

I just created my account in the Vision catalogue... or revisit it. I guess I had created one a while ago, but I don't really remember. I think Vision is okay. I love Goodreads way more. I buy all of my books and do not check them out of the library. Even though I work here, I have no real use for Vision to keep track of the books that I check out. I also think that Goodreads is more userfriendly. I was typing up my comment on the book "Kiss me First" by LottieMoggach and clicked outside of the box and everything disappeared. Oh ok! I also find it hard to find books on Vision. Misspelling just one work, like forgetting an S at the end or mixing up two letter (like I do a lot) bring up no results. However it's the same with Goodreads. Somebody should really work on that. Finally, there was one thing I liked more with Vision; you can rate half stars!! I always thought that 5 stars wasn't enough to rate a book on Goodreads and I always have trouble giving a proper rating to the books I read. However, with half stars, it would make it much easier.

One thing I liked about Vision is the fact that I create lists (which I can also do on Goodreads). For this week's task for the 23 things NB, I created two lists:

I was very familiar with making lists as I have done so for the AWK_Region vision account when I was a student intern last year. If you would like to check it out, I'm sure it would be useful for some readers' advisory in your libraries :)! I did everything from "YA book series" to "Books made into movies" to "If you enjoyed Hunger games you should try...". It was sooo much fun. I have to say that I hope to land a job at a library where readers' advisory is a major part of my job. I loooove books and I am pretty good at finding what people want or giving suggestions as to what people should read next! I also do lists for my monthly Staff Picks at the Moncton Public Library!

Overall, Vision is quite similar to Goodreads. However, I think that Goodreads is a little more user friendly and is more complete. The books on Vision are limited to what we have in our library system, when Goodreads include all of the books... well almost! I do like both and I think that it's a great service that our library system offers, but for now I'm going to stick to Goodreads.

If any of you are interested in following me, comment with your username (on either Goodreads or Vision, or both!).
