Introduction

Hello everyone!

My name is Gabrielle Richard, but I prefer Gaby, and I work at the Moncton Public Library as one of the part-time clerks at the circulation desk. I'm doing this blog for the 23 things NB training we have for the New-Brunswick public libraries.

A little about me... Well I'm 24 years old (very soon to be 25) and I'm currently doing my Master's degree in Library and Information Science online with San Jose State University. I did my undergraduate degree at Université de Moncton in psychology and graduated in 2013. I've been working in libraries since I was 16 years old. I started as a student in Shediac and then became a casual is various libraries in the Albert-Westmorland-Kent region. I realized fairly quickly that I loved libraries more than anything else and decided to pursue my career in library and information science. I remember being confused about my future and talking about it with one of my psychology professor. I told him that the issue was that I literally wanted to do everything: psychologist, researcher, librarian, doctor, nurse, writer, etc. He told me words that I will never forget: "you are picking the right career then, because with books you can be anything you want." It made my decision easy.

Other than that I absolutely LOVE books. Even though I've been working in a library for most of my life, I still buy all my books (I know I'm a little crazy, but look at how beautiful my bookshelf is!).

Right now, I mostly read teen dystopian novels, but I like anything ranging from mysteries to fantasy. I also love movies and music - anyone who worked with me already knows how crazy I am about Eminem. Finally, my dream would be to publish a novel one day. I'm very happy with where I am in my life and I am confident that if I work hard, I will accomplish many things.

To go back to the 23 things NB, setting up this blog was easy for me. I had to do it a few times before for classes and really had fun with it. One of my new year’s resolutions this year (which is failing so far) was to start a blog. Mainly, I'd like to talk about the books I read and the movies I watch. Maybe this is the push I needed to start.
